Dolly Basics 1, 2, 3

As a new student to porcelain Doll making, you are encouraged to participate in our beginners program: Dolly Basics 1.2.3.    This program will guide you step-by-step from the beginning levels of Doll making to more advanced levels, building a strong foundation as you go.

INTRODUCTION TO DOLL MAKING:

The first doll that you will make is Serenity, the beautiful sleeping baby.  Your first segment will cover the fundamentals in Dollmaking.  In these classes you will learn the basics of cleaning soft-fired greenware, china painting, and doll assembly.  You will complete Serenity, an adorable sleeping baby, with wig, hair eyelashes and a weighted poseable body.

Dolly Basics 1, Sweetness

You will start Level One while you are in the process of completing Serenity.  You will learn the fundamentals of casting your own greenware, pre-cleaning, eye sizing and recap your painting and doll assembly skills.

When you purchase the Basic Dollmakers Brush Kit for the low price of $24.95, you will be taught to cast Sweetness and will have the greenware to begin your next project.  There is a $5.00 soft-fire fee to be paid at the close of the class session.

At the completion of these two dolls you will be awarded a birth certificate.  Congratulations, you are now the mother or twins!

Dolly Basics 2, Holiday Helper

Holiday Helper is an adorable toddler that can be presented in a variety of ways.  This 15” doll will teach you how to improve your cleaning and painting skills.  In addition, you will learn to paint and attach arms and legs to a cloth body that has a wire armature.  You can proceed at your own pace and make as many of these dolls as you would like.

If you would like to cast your own doll or dolls, you are encouraged and welcomed to attend the Master Masters class held on the 1st Saturday of each month.  Casting the greenware for this doll is a requirement for completing the Master Casters program.  If you cannot attend the Master Caster Class - greenware for the Holiday Helper may be purchased for a fee of $22.00 which includes the initial $5.00 soft fire fee.

Dolly Basics 3, May

May, an 18” all porcelain doll, will kick up your Doll making skills a notch or two.  Greenware for this project can be purchased or cast in the Master Casters Program.  You will learn how to give your doll projects depth that will set them apart from just any doll.  You will learn how to apply an overall wash, do contour shading and practice a little more in depth painting of lashes and brows.  We will also assemble the all-porcelain body.  If you prefer, you may purchase a composition body for May.

You will learn an introduction to how the basic color changes the mood of a doll.  This is an intro into Complexion Connection.  You may explore other color possibilities as you experiment with different color bases and a variety of overall washes.  This doll can be cast in a Master Casters class, or you may purchase the greenware from the studio.
